Pay for electricity how and when you choose with no security deposits. Purchasing electricity before you use it allows you to manage your budget and pay how much you want, when you want.

Monitor your energy consumption on a regular basis, and begin to notice patterns in your day-to-day usage, so you can take action to keep energy costs down. PrePay participants typically see a 10 to 12% reduction in their monthly electric bill.

PrePay Billing FAQ

Who qualifies for PrePay?

Most residential accounts are eligible to enroll in PrePay. Contact Member Relations for account requirements.

Can I switch back to normal service?

You can change back to regular service at any time. Application, any applicable fees and deposit requirements need to be met before service can be established.

How do I keep track of my credit?

Credits are monitored through daily billing. Notifications are sent by email, text or by phone when your balance falls below the specified limit.

What if I owe money?

Any remaining balance due on your account can be set up on a Debt Payment Plan. The previous balance is paid using 50% of future payments to your account.

This means half of all future payments go to pay your Debt Payment Plan until paid off. The other half goes toward your future power purchases.

What happens if my account reaches $0?

If you do not prepay for additional electric service before your account balance drops to zero, BEC’s automatic meter-reading system will remotely disconnect your meter until a payment is received. After BEC receives prepayment, the meter will immediately reconnect.
