What is Fiber Internet?

Fiber internet is a high-speed broadband service which utilizes tiny strands of glass known as optical fibers to transmit data by laser pulses at the speed of light. BEC Fiber’s infrastructure is adaptable to meet the needs of our ever-changing internet requirements. Bad weather doesn’t affect fiber because we are sending light signals over glass making it virtually immune to interference.

Do I need to purchase a modem?

Standard indoor modems will be supplied by BEC Fiber and are included in your monthly plan price. BEC Fiber will install the modem, provide technical support if any problems develop, and replace your modem as needed. If an outdoor modem is required, a BEC router can be leased for $9.95 per month.

Does BEC offer TV service?

No. BEC does not offer cable or TV services. With BEC Fiber, you have endless options to stream the content of your choice. Streaming services must be purchased separately through the streaming provider.

How do I run a speed test?

There are 2 primary types of speed tests. Speed to the home and speed to the device.

  1. Speed to the home: This test measures the speeds from BEC Fibers provisioning server to your ONT. The speeds reflected on this test should be greater than 90% of the service plan that you are subscribed to. You can test the speed of your router by downloading the free myBECfiber app.
  2. Speed to the device: This test measures the speed from your router to your devices within your home network.
    You can test your devices using our custom speed test website.

How does the BEC Fiber installation credit work?

BEC Fiber subscribers receive free installation to get connected with BEC Fiber. For subscribers who need extra work to bring fiber from the mainline to their home, BEC Fiber can provide the subscriber with an estimate of costs for contractors to run the cable to the home. subscribers receive a $600 credit towards the cost of this construction and would only pay if the total cost is higher than the credit.

What is the Llano myBECfiber App?

myBECfiber is our free mobile application that helps you better manage your network all in the palm of your hands. View a quick snapshot of all the connected devices on your network, set up basic content controls, enable a guest network, and even change your network name and password. How will BEC run fiber to my location?

Where possible, BEC Fiber will follow the route of your electric utilities. An outside plant engineer will coordinate with you on the best design for the fiber route to your service location.

Is there a cap on my data usage?

All service tiers offer unlimited data. The rate at which you can download/upload is determined by the speed plan you’re subscribed to.

What if I’m under contract with another provider?

Before signing any commitment with BEC Fiber, we recommend that you speak to your provider for information and requirements about successfully fulfilling/canceling your current contract without incurring extra costs.

What is Fiber VoIP Phone Service?

Fiber Phone, or Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), is a method of voice communication via the Internet. VoIP is a clearer form of communication that provides a range of advanced features and functionality. BEC Fiber offers phone service for both residential and commercial purposes. Phone service requires BEC Fiber broadband service.
