The BEC Foundation is proud to announce the winner of its annual Member Choice Contest, awarding $5,000 to a local nonprofit organization that makes a significant impact in the community. This year, the Silver Sage in Bandera has emerged triumphant.

The contest invited BEC members to nominate organizations they believed were deserving of the $5,000 grant. The top five nominees were then put to a membership vote, which took place from May 1 to May 20.

About Silver Sage

The Silver Sage has been delivering Meals on Wheels in Bandera County since 1984. As they celebrate their 40th anniversary, they renew their commitment to providing adequate nutrition, culturally appropriate foods, and access to public benefits for all. Through resources, education, and support, they aim to equip individuals with the tools they need to transform their lives and uplift their communities, transcending poverty and inequity. The $5,000 Member Choice Award grant will bolster their Benefits Enrollment Center, ensuring ongoing support and application assistance for older adults seeking the benefits they deserve.
