Get Ready for the Energy Star Tax Holiday

Mark your calendar for the Energy Star Sales Tax Holiday, May 28 through 30.

Texas shoppers wanting a break on energy-efficient items can buy qualifying Energy Star products in stores, online or by phone, mail, custom order or any other means (including in-store purchases) tax-free, when either:

The item is both delivered and paid for during the exemption period or you order and pay for the item and the seller accepts the order during the exemption period for immediate shipment, even if delivery is made after the exemption period ends.

If you pay sales tax on qualifying items during the sales tax holiday, you can ask the seller for a refund of the tax paid or a refund form to send directly to the Texas comptroller’s office.
